Aqua Barrier

The Aqua-Barrier cofferdam is an inflated, water-filled barrier that is essential for dewatering construction sites or flood protection. Its unique internal baffle system ensures a stable product that is both environmentally-safe and durable.

Compared to traditional water control methods that use small bags filled with water or sand, the Aqua-Barrier can be reused and repurposed for any application. Discover the advantages of our inflatable water dam to keep your properties secure from harm.

Aqua barriers are made in 30cm (1ft) increments heights from 30cm to 2.4m high. They can also be made in any length up to 32m long.

The barriers are made from INDUSTRIAL GRADE REINFORCED PVC material.

How does the Aqua Barrier Work?

Stabilisation Components

Aqua Barriers utilise three main components to operate.

The first is the freeboard, this is the amount of inflated barrier above the water level. A minimum of 25% freeboard is required in all Aqua Barrier installations. Freeboard requirements may increase if the barrier is exposed to, or has the potential of being exposed to high water velocities (1 metre per second or greater), slick soils or other relevant hydrostatic conditions.

The second is the surface friction. This stabilises the barrier when exposed to flood waters on one side. Surfaces like roads, concrete, paved areas will have a greater surface friction component. Barriers exposed to soft or slick soils may require additional freeboard.

The Internal Baffle System is the third component, which is an internal patented restraint baffle, which locks into place when the barrier is exposed to greater water pressures on one side. The baffle limits the amount the barrier will roll as the water levels rise. Aqua Barriers are available in double and single-baffle styles. The 0.3m through to the 1.2m system heights are made with single baffles. Barriers above 1.2m system heights are only available in double-baffle designs.
