Floodgate Barrier and Vent Seals
Floodgate door barrier is a rapid deployment flood protection system, which is low cost and effective for residential properties and robust and flexible for commercial and industrial premises.
Floodgate was developed in conjunction with the University of Wales and is used throughout the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
The Floodgate flood protection system consists of doorway barriers that are deployed either as a single unit or able to be extendable through a unique modular system. They are especially suitable for businesses requiring increased flood protection measures. Vent Guards are also available to protect vulnerable vent points on the building exterior walls.
Floodgate Barrier
The Floodgate barriers are designed with the homeowner in mind and consist of a 25mm boxed frame that can telescope sideways using a strong jacking mechanism.
The frame is covered by a 7mm thick rubber envelope that creates a watertight seal against the doorway frame.
This lightweight effective door guard takes 2 minutes to install and comes complete with all the equipment needed to successfully protect your valuable home or business from the effects of flooding.
The Door Guards fits 99% of domestic doorways moulding itself to the doorway for effective sealing of your property to 680mm in height.

Joining the Floodgates
When more than one Floodgate is needed, Stanchion units are used to allowing the joining of the Floodgates.
Stanchions are bolted onto previously installed ground fittings. The Floodgate barriers are then positioned laterally between the stanchions, providing a proven and effective protection system for large structures and openings. Floodgates can also be made to measure for non-standard openings.
The Stanchion system comprises two basic parts; a blue, powder coated mild steel upright, weighing approximately 15Kg, and a grey stainless steel ground anchor that the Stanchion bolts on to.
Once the anchor plates are installed, the uprights can be deployed in a matter of minutes and are completely removable, allowing unhindered access in non flood conditions.
How Floodgate Barrier Work?
The Floodgate barrier is constructed using 25mm box section frames, which are able to telescope sideways utilising a strong and reliable jacking system. This expands the frames outwards into a door-frame, or stanchion units for longer flood protection sections.
The outside of the Floodgate frame is covered in a 7mm neoprene material, similar to wetsuit material, which provides a watertight seal. This strong and flexible material will expand with the frames to provide the needed watertight flood protection.
The lower part of the Floodgate has an attached rail, which is able to be extended downwards using the four mounted bolts, this provides an effective seal of the bottom of the Floodgate barrier.
Floodgate is also designed to extend in modular form, with the units able to be positioned between stanchion units which are proven to be effective in the protection of large openings and structures.
Floodgate Accessories
Floodgate Barrier
Available in 7 sizes, based on their extendable sideways range, with a flood protection height of 680mm. The barriers comes with a ratchet spanner for operating the jacking unit and a caulking gun and sealant for use if required for seepage control.
Stanchions
The stanchions consist of a permanent base receptor set in concrete, into which a 125mm square steel upright is inserted and secured. The Stanchions allow multiple Floodgate barrier installations for longer areas needing flood protection.
Side Channels
The Side Channel come in pairs and made from stainless steel. They are secured either between the opening or in front or behind to provide a smooth and secure sealing surface for the end of the Floodgate to seal against.
Smart Bricks
The SMART AirBrick has been designed to allow air to pass through freely but not water. It features simple flood activated valves that ensure compliance as an air brick but, as soon as water enters the brick, the valves are forced closed preventing flood water from passing through.
The Vent guard is designed to protect vulnerable breathing points on a building, for example air-bricks and gas vents on the exterior of buildings. Once sited it takes just seconds to operate the unique bung securing system.
The SMART AirBrick is available in terracotta red or stone grey to match your brickwork and has the following dimensions:

Two SMART AirBricks can be stacked on top of each other to replace double height air bricks. SMART AirBricks have been independently tried and tested to BSI PAS1188-1.
Ventguard
The Ventguard is a simple to use Glass Reinforced Plastic shield that is screwed to the wall surrounding an airbrick. When there is a risk of flooding, it takes seconds to manually insert the quick release bungs into both sides of the Ventguard to make it watertight.
Each Ventguard is manufactured in white but, can be hand painted on site to match the colour of the property. They are available in 2 sizes to protect single and double air bricks:
The Single Ventguard measures 330mm x 230mm to cover a standard single airbrick (240mm x 120mm)
The Double Ventguard measures 330mm x 345mm to cover a standard double airbrick (240mm x 240mm)
Ventguards have been independently tried and tested to BSI PAS1188-1.
