Hydro Response was asked to assist in the deployment of 375m of Pallet Barrier by Emergency Management Queensland to protect the Queensland town of Charleville from flooding. Assistance was also provided from staff of the Palmerston North Rescue Team and Emergency Management Academy of New Zealand.
Many local town volunteers turned out and worked alongside emergency services staff to build the needed flood barrier which kept the town safe from flooding.
Hydro Response displayed the Geodesign Steel Barrier on the Heathcote River next to the Christchurch Royal Show, simulating a flooding situation around a placed portable building, much to the amazement of show visitors.
Participants on this course worked with the Geodesign Flood Barrier by day AND night.

A demonstration of the Geodesign Barrier was carried out at the Fieldays site. A small section of a pond was blocked off and the water behind it pumped out. This simple demonstration of a flood barrier at work attracted a lot of interest from government agencies and construction companies.

Participants in this course were able to set up Geodesign flood barrier and also use it to dam a small stream. They achieved excellent results with minimal instruction and assembly time.
