The Riverlane stream was upgraded with clearing of shrubs and debris from the stream banks and installing gabion rock filled cages and geo textile and loose rock covering. 80 metres of the 1.25m high Geodesign Steel Barrier was used to divert the stream to allow the bank work to be carried out as well as controlling silt contamination. A culvert upgrade was carried out under Riddell road in Glendowie. 10 metres of the 1.8m high and 7 metres of the 1.25m high Geodesign Steel barrier was used to block the tidal flows up to the culverts to allow the works to be carried out. The barrier also allowed the storm water that flow from the upstream side to pass under the barrier at low tide levels.

40m of the 1.8m high Geodesign Steel Barrier was used to create a dewatered area for installing the intake of a small scale hydroelectric generator. This site proved to be a challenge due to the nature of the sub surface water flows which resulted in a wider membrane being installed to reduce seepage into the below river level intake area.
